The Vineyard
Nestled between the Central range and the Cascade Mountains in the North Willamette Valley, Tresori Vineyard lies in the Chehalem Mountains AVA and is perched on the western edge of the Chehalem Ridge. The spectacular expansive views are overlooking the Coastal Range to the West, the Dundee Hills to the South and the Newberg to Salem corridor to the Southeast. Hazelnut orchards, grasslands and vineyards make a patchwork of textured color with stands of evergreens in the fertile valleys.
Tresori Vineyard comprises 110 acres of south to southwest facing slopes from 330 to 860 feet in elevation on the ridge. Planting began in 1997 at the lower elevations in primarily volcanic and sedimentary type soils. (Jory, Nekia and Willakenzie)
Three non irrigated blocks ( Nannu, Wedding and Honeymoon) comprise the lower elevation 4+ acre vineyard planted with classic Pommard / Wadensvil clones as well as Dijon clones 113, 114, 115, 667 and 777 for a true Burgundian style field blend. The oldest block (Nannu) was planted in 1997 on various drought resistant root stock. In 1999 a small Wedding block was planted with meter by meter spacing in recognition of traditional old world style planting. The Honeymoon block followed with 2 meter by 1 meter spacing of the 777 Dijon clone.
An additional 11 acres of clones 777 and 115 were planted in the rocky crushed basalt filled upper slopes in the fall of 2008. The upper hill vineyard came into production with the 2011 harvest.
In the end, we believe wine is made in the vineyard... farm the land, be patient, and let mother nature do what she does best.
The People
The Longo Family
Joe Longo grew up making wine with his Nannus in Omaha, Nebraska and bringing it out every Easter for family celebrations. Maureen too grew up in Omaha where her family was a leader in the food and beverage industry. She fell in love with food and wine pairing as a way to bring people together. When they reconnected this was a mutual interest that they cherished. To give something back to their families, honor the tradition and to create a legacy for their children, they planted Tresori Vineyard in the 1990's with Joe's sister Jackie and her husband Brian McCartin. The Tresori project has always been about bringing families together. The Italian Longo's and the Irish Corcoran's can all agree that the best celebrations include engaging conversation alongside excellent wine and food.
The Winemaking Team
We have had a long-term friendship with Laurent Montalieu (Soléna / Hyland / NW Wine Company) going back to the mid 1990’s. Laurent joined us during our final selection of vineyard land. He toured our favorite three possible sites to help determine which would work best based on irrigation, exposure, soil and elevation. As a respected industry leader, we have found his professionalism and passion for the highest quality standards in the vineyard coupled with a philosophy of minimal intervention in the production of handcrafted wines a perfect match for Tresori. Laurent, along with our winemaker Anne Sery, continues to ensure that the Tresori wines meet the highest quality standards, with assistance from Brian Irvine and Bruno Corneaux.
DAVE WALKER
Dave Walker joined the Tresori team in early 2015 to oversee our tasting room and next period of growth. Dave's wine expertise and industry leadership are a unique blend of experience from tasting rooms to the fields, horticulture, agriculture, carpenter, and wine maker. This background and Dave's commitment to quality made our decision to collaborate with him an easy choice. We are thrilled to have Dave as part of the Tresori family!
